A new outdoor playground has opened in Wallyford in East Lothian near the new local primary school and has already proved to be very popular with local children. The playground project is the result of a collaboration between Proludic who designed and supplied the play equipment and East Lothian Council as installers.
The Wallyford play area has a wide range of playground equipment designed for use by pre-school children through to teenagers. The final design was chosen by the pupils of Wallyford Primary School following a consultation. From a previously underutilised piece of land, the new play space boasts 11 new items of play equipment that can now accommodate more than 100 children.
Additionally, it offers 150 play values for children to interact with. The client brief was for the space to include inclusive play equipment and nine pieces of equipment were included specifically for physical, cognitive and sensory impairments.
“We have dealt with Proludic for many years, probably 20 years. We have had very positive feedback for this new play park, and we are quite happy that Proludic supplied this particular job.”
Amenity Technician, East Lothian Council, Dougie Fox
At this destination park, the central tree house is a large beacon that entices children and gives them a sense of discovery. Proludic was able to include some new innovative products for the first time in Scotland, like the new Ka’Yop unit and the cantilever swing, which add to the sense of wonder in this outdoor playground.
“The new play park is the latest to be installed by East Lothian Council and works continue to upgrade and improve other play areas around the county. The Council currently provides, manages and maintains 120 equipped play areas throughout East Lothian to encourage healthy sociable play for young people.”
Cabinet Member for Community Wellbeing, Colin McGinn
