Marshalls Landscape Protection, part of hard landscaping manufacturer Marshalls Group, is delighted to introduce the latest addition to its Active Travel Solutions range: the new Cycle Segregation Unit, designed to help create safer and more accessible urban spaces for cyclists.
Across the country, there has been a clear push for the adoption of greener, alternative forms of travel, such as walking and cycling, to relieve the pressure on public transport routes
The Cycle Segregation Unit has been developed to help local authorities, specifiers and highways professionals deliver on this campaign by creating safer and more sustainable travel infrastructure, as well as encouraging a more active approach to commuting in local communities.
Manufactured from concrete, Marshall’s Cycle Segregation Unit is a versatile kerb solution, designed to act as a demarcation tool and safely segregate cyclists from trafficked areas.
Designed to be installed in both new or existing schemes where the highway requires a redesign, the concrete segregation unit requires minimal maintenance and is compliant with the performance levels set out in the European Standard BS EN: 1340.
Roger Knight, Head of NPD and Engineering at Marshalls Landscape Protection said: “With the ongoing climate emergency, everyone is looking at how we can do our bit to help the environment and be greener. Swapping the car or the bus for a bicycle is a great way to reduce our carbon footprint, as well as helping us to stay fit and healthy. Of course, if we are to encourage more people to get on their bike, it’s imperative that they are provided with a safe cycling route. This is where our Cycle Segregation Unit comes in. Manufactured here in Britain, it’s designed to help make our towns and cities safer and more accessible for cyclists.”
